About ASC

img01-sshThe Asian Science Camp 2015 (ASC 2015) will be held from August 2 to 8, 2015 at the Convention Center and Sirindhorn Science Home at the Thailand Science Park, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Pathumthani, 30 kilometers north of Bangkok.

Some 270 students from 30 Asian countries/regions will be selected to participate in ASC 2015, from students who show promise in science at high school (11th and 12th grade) and university (1st and 2nd year).

The idea of ASC was jointly proposed after the Lindau Science Meeting in 2005 by Professor Yuan-Tseh Lee, the 1986 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, and Professor Masatoshi Koshiba, the 2002 Nobel Laureate in Physics. The proposal aims to enlighten science-talented youths through discussion and dialogue with top scholars in the world and to promote international friendship and cooperation among the best young students of the next generation in Asia.

The ASC International Advisory Committee approved that Thailand should host the ASC in 2015. ASC 2015 will be the 9th in the series, following successful camps at Taipei (2007), Bali (2008), Tsukuba (2009), Mumbai (2010), Daejeon (2011), Jerusalem (2012), Tsukuba (2013) and Singapore (2014).
